Lucky Lax was founded by Catherine Leahy and Trish
Derwart in 2002. Both Leahy and Derwart are passionate about
the sport of lacrosse and are excited to continue promoting it's
growth in the Greater Columbus area. Lucky Lax offers
structured, competitive and fun events including but not limited to:
leagues. clinics, private training, and travel teams. Lucky
Lax leagues are always coached by past and current collegiate
lacrosse players and officiated by local officials. All Lucky
Lax staff members are at the top of the lacrosse game and extremely
knowledgeable and eager to help instruct today's youth.
Catherine Leahy, a Columbus native graduated from Watterson High
School and went on to play Division I lacrosse at Ohio University as
a scholarship player. As a low defender, Leahy contributed
greatly to the Bobcats success and served as a captain in her
senior season. Catherine spent a year coaching collegiate
Division I lacrosse at the University at Albany in New York before
returning to Columbus to focus on developing lacrosse in the area.
Trish Derwart grew up in the hotbed of lacrosse in Ellicott City
Maryland. After graduating from Mount Hebron High school, the
#1 nationally ranked team, Derwart came to Columbus as a
scholarship lacrosse player at Ohio State University. In her
senior season, Derwart helped lead the buckeyes to their first
appearance in the NCAA tournament and 12th place ranking.
While residing in Columbus after her college career, Derwart coached
a year at Columbus Academy and two years at Columbus School for
Girls. She currently coaches in Baltimore, MD. |
